Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28th in 1967. Roberts is the fourth Roberts generation that has lived in Atlanta starting with her farmer great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts. Early on, her father became interested in theater. As an undergraduate at Emory University, he performed in a variety of productions in Atlanta. In 1953, when he joined the Air Force, he appeared with Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. In 1955, the couple married and their son Eric Anthony was born. Walter and his wife left the military in the year 1957 and enrolled Walter in Tulane University. Walter began his work at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. Walter along with Betty Lou started production in 1964 for the children's local Saturday morning TV show Bum Bum and His Buddies and their Buddies, which they both funded. The Actors and Writers Workshop was established in 1964 and lasted for six years. The couple had another two children: Lelisa Billingsley (1965) (also called Lisa) as well as Julia Billingsley (1967) (also known by the name Julie).
